Gallaudet University and Transact Campus

Gallaudet University is a federally chartered private university in Washington, D.C., that educates the deaf and hard of hearing. The university has over 1,500 enrolled students.

GU is also continuing to explore the expansion of mobile offerings to students with Transact Mobile Credential and Transact eMarket. Rick Baker said they want to "keep up with the trends of the students, future students, and what they're going to expect."

Transact Mobile Credential—meet the needs of their mobile-centric students 

Gallaudet University plans to join Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and 144+ other universities to offer its students Transact Mobile Credential. The university's students and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dominic Lacy, are advocating for a modern, keyless door access system, with card readers on all dorm doors. 

Rick Baker noted the COO's push for this upgrade, “Keys are becoming obsolete, and to get there, we will need to adopt Mobile Credential rather than spending all the time and energy on physical cards. Often, students lose the cards; they don't lose their phones."

Rick continued, "We have spoken to students who are very much looking forward to using their phones. Being able to open the doors and buy food. Just the convenience of using the phone for everything."

Once Transact Mobile Credential is launched, their students can conveniently access their IDs through their mobile wallet, enhancing the campus experience. Simultaneously, GU administrators will gain a powerful tool to track and control access rights, ensuring a secure environment for all. 

Gallaudet University is expanding its eCommerce platform to offer 24/7 secure payment processing for students via Transact eMarket 

Rick Baker said, "We're also working on eMarket and payments. We're really focusing on e-markets and improving the shopping experience and the shopping cart experience for our students. We currently don't have that offering."
